Cosmic events have sparked my interest despite standing outside in the winter chill. I've seen Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Mercury, all with a pair of plain old binoculars. Amazing! I am fascinated by the night sky, grateful to live on the edge of rural suburbia that allows a fairly dark night and unobstructed view of the southwest.
Inspiration for an artist can be anything- visual, tactile, auditory, olfactory or savory. A large portion of what inspires me to paint is visual, particularly pertaining to the sky. I always keep a cell phone at hand to snap fleeting moments of the heavens. And, now that I finally have a new iPhone, the photos I archive are truly amazing.
The photo pictured has possibilities as a future oil & cold wax painting.
